Welcome Michael Wharton!
We welcome Michael Wharton as our newest Sr. Machine Learning Engineer. Michael obtained his BS in Aerospace Engineering with a certificate in Scientific Computing from the University of Texas at Austin, during which he researched remote sensing (LIDAR) classification methodologies. After studying at UT, he started his career at SpaceX designing automated hydraulic and fluid systems, as well as large structures for testing Falcon 9 flight hardware. Michael then spent some time traveling, ultimately visiting 33 different countries in 10 months (Japan was a particular favorite). Most recently, Michael worked at Applied Research Laboratories at Pickle Research Campus in Austin, where he developed and built ensemble methods to perform sensor-agnostic semantic segmentation on LIDAR data, ultimately achieving state-of-the-art performance and deploying on a Department of Defense platform.
